Trusted Digital Asset Insights and Trends

When it comes to planning...
It's amazing to think that errors still occur when doing the right thing. For example, people have good intentions to create a do-it-yourself-online-will for their assets but they then are not signed properly. Perhaps those general wills were not specify enough for one's needs because important clauses were missing that a family should have had in order to protect them. Perhaps a trust was created and never funded.
Modern succession planning today needs to now include a plan of action for digital assets. Yes, everyone has them. If you have an email, pay subscriptions for data storage like an iCloud account or even have crypto, these are digital assets. Succession planning needs to include strategies for these accounts.

What is your code word?
Americans alone lost an estimated $148.2bn (£110.1bn) to online scams and crimes in 2025, up nearly 26% from the year prior. AI-enabled scams accounted for $6.3bn (£4.7bn) of that. Experts say they're growing exponentially. These AI Deepfakes are not just for the wealthy, they are targeting everyone and anyone around the world. They especially prey on those who have recently passed away.
What to do to stay safe?
Your family needs an agreed upon, rehearsed code word to prove you are human. This may sound a bit old school, but this is the only way a scam will falter. You may have heard stories of how ransom payments were asked for based on a car wreck of a family member, perhaps even jail. Deepfakes copy your voice, name, image and likeness so thinking it's real is a matter of how well you know that person. The codeword breaks the fearmongering and solidifies your relationship to not believe that scammer's call.
