How Cars Collect and Share Your Data

In this session, we’ll look at how modern cars gather and share information and where that data may end up. We’ll also discuss how connected vehicle technology can affect insurance rates, driving habits, and future decisions about transportation and privacy.

Ever feel like your phone knows a little too much about where you’ve been? If you use a Samsung or an iPhone, your device has built-in settings that help protect your privacy, but most people never take a close look at them. In this session, we’ll break down what Location Services and App Tracking really mean and show you how to adjust them. We’ll also walk through how to set up Legacy Contacts and shared access so someone you trust can step in if needed without giving up full control.
This week’s topic: How Smart Devices Collect Your Data
Smart devices make life convenient, but they also collect large amounts of personal information. In this session, Natalia Parker will explain how devices like smartphones, video doorbells, and connected home appliances gather data and how that information may be shared or sold. We will also look at how these devices communicate with one another and what users should understand about the data they generate.
Presenter Bio:
Natalia Parker is the co-founder of Dexitplan, an American by choice and by heart, who traded a legal career in Russia for a life built from scratch in the United States, raising two kids and finding her purpose where technology meets real people’s lives. That purpose came into focus after years of watching families face the same painful reality: a loved one passes, and suddenly no one can access the accounts, find the assets, or answer the simplest questions. She did not just empathize with that problem; she built a solution. Everything she does at Dexitplan comes back to one belief: if you open an account, you deserve to understand what you are walking into, and if you leave one behind, your family deserves a clear path forward.
