Hot Market: Biodata

  • Can you imagine being under surveillance at work so that AI can replace yourself? This is exactly what Meta has launched, instructing their employees that their physical monitored behavior such as mouse clicks, eye movements and more can teach the AI models to be closer to that of a human, in efforts that those jobs will go to computers. The incentive called “Model Capability Initiative (MCI)”  will be monitoring employees around the globe except in Europe where privacy standards are more protective.

    • So when we talk about having Biodata on the internet and being used to fund projects, it is this sort of data that many apps are tracking and making money off brokering this data. What happens thereafter is still yet to be directly affecting our every day lives, until it does. Examples of this is, not having a job, not being able to drive a car because of eye movement, and having genetic data in databases where healthcare decisions will be impacted.

  • Another pain point is the use of Meta & RayBan's AI glasses. Over 7 million pairs have sold last year, indicating a popular purchase but at the risk of abusing and collecting very private and sensitive data. Private conversations, facial recognition and more are being consumed by Meta to train their algorythms. If you like to see a video clip on what they do see it here. What data it collects though and what happens to it ... is well training AI! Thankfully there are sixty-four consumer advocacy groups, led by the Consumer Federation of America and Ultraviolet Action, warned that integrating facial recognition into eyewear is a “dangerous and reckless plan that will harm both users and the entire public.”

Why won't your new car start?

Devices such as your phone, glasses and soon...cars are all able to track your biomedical functions. In a latest round of news, cars will no longer operate if they feel that your are not well enough to drive. By 2027, all new cars will have this mandatory technology which will ban you from driving if you are deemed impaired. Tracking your eye function, heart rate, checking for intoxication or fatigue.. the decision to drive will be well, not yours.

  • This biodata tracking may indeed sound extreme but cases built on this data will have implications that aren't just ethical but have real world consequences yet unknown. Who isn't tired in their morning commute? Planning for this sort of data is today part of your succession story and perhaps your every day schedule.
